Start Moving

Embracing fitness starts with cherishing your body rather than resenting it. When starting, stepping into the gym can be overwhelming for many, including myself. My most significant piece of advice is to discover a physical activity that becomes a joyful hobby. When you wholeheartedly enjoy your fitness routine, consistency becomes effortless, and you'll be amazed at the remarkable results that naturally blossom along your fitness journey.

How I started moving

My transformative journey started a year ago when I was introduced to bouldering. A friend invited me to go rock climbing, and little did I know that I was about to stumble upon an adult-sized playground that would change my perspective on fitness forever.

Bouldering became my newfound addiction, drawing me in with its exhilarating challenges and camaraderie. Three times a week, my friends and I would flock to the climbing gym, pushing ourselves to conquer higher heights and tougher routes. With each fall and failure, we'd burst into laughter, turning setbacks into opportunities for growth.

For the first time in years, exercising and using my body didn't feel like a dreadful chore. Bouldering transformed into my weekly dose of physical activity, unveiling a world of benefits that extended far beyond the surface. The sport instilled in me a profound sense of body control, and I began to notice the positive changes taking root:

  • Increased Flexibility and Balance: Climbing improved my flexibility, allowing me to reach holds that once seemed out of reach, while also honing my balance on precarious footholds.

  • Full Body and Core Strength: The demanding movements of climbing engaged muscles throughout my entire body, especially my core, contributing to newfound strength and stability.

  • Coordination and Endurance: With each ascent, my coordination and endurance improved, helping me navigate intricate sequences with ease.

  • Mental Focus: Climbing requires intense mental focus, teaching me to stay in the moment, assess challenges, and strategize my movements.

  • Fear Management: Facing heights and challenging routes, I learned to manage fear and remain composed, discovering an inner reservoir of courage.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Every route presents its unique puzzles, and as I faced these challenges, my problem-solving skills sharpened.

The sport of rock climbing not only ignited a passion for fitness but also imparted invaluable life skills. Through bouldering, I found a joyous and fulfilling way to exercise and connect with my body on a deeper level. Over the past year, I have continued to boulder and have made my way into a traditional gym space for weightlifting. As I look back on my journey, I am grateful for the transformative power of climbing, and I eagerly anticipate the heights I'll continue to reach in both body and mind.
